Welcome to the home of LYSA (Longwood Youth Sports Association), where you will be able to obtain more information about the entire organization, as well as the individual sports. LYSA was originally formed back in 1962, as the Middle Island Sports Association and then later evolved into the current LYSA organization it is known as today. The organization was formed to ensure the youth of Longwood would have organized sports available to them throughout the area. Today's leagues have grown to over 3,000 families across 10 sports under the LYSA umbrella and is recognized as the largest youth sport organization in Suffolk county and one of the largest on all of Long Island.

Dear Parents/Guardians:

We are continuing to monitor COVID-19 and are actively following guidance from the Suffolk County Department of Health, NYS Department of Health, and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The Executive Board of Longwood Youth Sports Association (LYSA) have made the decision to suspend all current sports programs starting March 16, 2020 and tentatively resuming on May 1, 2020.  This suspension applies to all activities including Games, Practices, Scrimmages, and Meetings, and related events.  We will continue to monitor this very fluid situation, and plan on re-assessing our decision in April.  This decision was made in consultation with the commissioners and representatives of all of our sports programs.

The health and well being of our LYSA youth athletes, their families, and our Longwood community is our highest priority.

To do your part in helping to prevent spreading the coronavirus further in our community, please practice the following:

•Wash your hands regularly using soap and water, or alcohol-based hand sanitizers
•Cough or sneeze into your sleeve or use a tissue, not directly into your hands
•Avoid touching your face
•Avoid close contact with others who are sick or showing symptoms of illness
•Stay home if you are feeling sick and contact your physician's office

We appreciate your understanding and support as we work together through these unprecedented events.

Sincerely,
Longwood Youth Sports Association Executive Board
